Koh Kong Island, Cambodia

Cambodia’s largest island, and one of the least populated places in the country.

Just South of Koh Kong City, and the South-Eastern tip of Thailand. 10 to 20 KM.

Koh Kong Island is the size of Hong Kong, and has the population of a large classroom.

The Cambodian miliary controls the Island. You need to get a guided boat tour from the mainland. $21 per person, including lunch and snorkelling equipment, or $55 for overnight trips with tents or a homestay. The island is only accessible from October to May.

You can’t explore the mountains on the interior of the islandat any time of year. Lions, Tigers and Bears. (or maybe it’s the Cambodian military.)

Great fishing, swimming, boating, snorkeling and chilling on the Island though.

The airport, golf courses, and casino are not open yet, but if you wait (maybe 15 years), they will be. Not even a 7-11 or McDonalds (or any other store for now)

The main features of Koh Kong Island are trees, beaches, a mountains, and more trees and beaches. Also, lots of water (The Bay of Thailand surrounds the island, as you would expect.)

Koh Kong Island is a quick 25 to 50 minutes from the mainland, by boat, from Koh Kong City.
