About Us
Steung Areng Eco Resort, also known as the Steung Areng Community-Based Ecotourism (STAR-CBET) project, is nestled in Cambodia’s Central Cardamom Mountains National Park—the largest mainland rainforest in Southeast Asia. This ecotourism initiative was established in January 2016 to protect the region’s rich biodiversity, including the last wild populations of Siamese crocodiles and Royal Turtles, by offering sustainable livelihoods to local communities through tourism.

How to Get Here
From Phnom Penh:
- By Bus: Take a bus to Koh Kong town, departing at 7:00 a.m. from Mao Tse Tung Blvd near Domkor market. Disembark at the Veal Pi/Thmar Bang junction on National Road 48 around 1:00 p.m.
- From Veal Pi/Thmar Bang: Arrange for a moto-taxi or contact the resort to organize transport for the remaining 60 km to Steung Areng
From Koh Kong City:
By Motorbike: Rent a motorbike for a scenic 3-hour ride to Steung Areng. Note that the road can be challenging, especially during the rainy season; it’s advisable to travel during daylight hours.
By Taxi: Hire a taxi to Thmar Bang, then take a moto-taxi to Steung Areng.
