You want to go where?
and you want to pay how much?
Transport
Transport can be divided up between transport around Koh Kong, and into and out of Koh Kong.
Inside the city
Easiest and cheapest way around the city…… walk.
Second quickest and second cheapest, rent a bicycle, about $1.5 per day.
Quickest and third cheapest, take a motorcycle taxi.
They go slow, (if you ask), and charge about 5 Baht to 15 Baht (Thai money, about 15 to 45 cents U.S.), or 2,000 to 3,000 Cambodian Riel, or as much as they can get from you, for a ride inside of town. Charges are higher for more than one person on a motorcycle, and for night time travel.
Tuk Tuks, a cart pulled by a motorcycle are now available, and for one person, cost about triple the price of a motorcycle taxi.
Next, rent a 100 cc motorcycle for $5 a day plus gas. Very easy to drive, most are automatic (no gears). A dollar of gas gets you about an hour’s driving time.
($15 for a 450cc dirt bike for the day)
Another option, rent a car with a driver at the market. About $50 per day, plus gas.
To get to the Cardamom Mountains
You’re going to want to either go to one of the accommodations with their recommended transport, or go to a travel agent who has tours.
The only other way is by Big Bike. An off-road motorcycle. Very popular around these parts.
To get TO Koh Kong.
By boat, car, motorcycle, bus, taxi.
From Thailand.
From downtown Trat, Thailand, get a van for 120 Thai Baht to the border at the Hat Lek (Thai) to Cham Yeam (Cambodia) border. Once over the border, you can get a motorcycle taxi, car or Tuk Tuk to downtown Koh Kong. From $3 to $10 to town and 10 minutes.
From the rest of Cambodia
Bus or Taxi is the only way. (unless you’re riding your own motorcycle)
To get OUT of Koh Kong to Thailand
From downtown Koh Kong, get a motorcycle taxi, Tuk Tuk or car to the border. About 10 minutes. Once you cross over the border, you can get a shared van to Trat, Thailand, or a private car. Trat is about 1 hour away and about 120 Thai Baht.
To get Out from Koh Kong by Road
Bus or Taxi. Most hotels and all travel agents can get you one.
In and out of Koh Kong by Boat
A ship travels between Koh Kong and Trat, Thailand (right near the Cambodian border)
At the Koh Kong Port, you can also get a ship to SihanoukVille and Kampot, Cambodia. From SihanoukVille, you can get another boat right from the port to Koh Rong and Koh Rong Samloem Islands in Cambodia.
From Kampot, you can get a boat to Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam. You don’t need a visa to go to this island. You can stay up to 30 days free. After that, you need to leave the island back to Cambodia, or get a Vietnamese visa, or travel by air out of Vietnam.
Check out the Kampot International Tourism Port for more details
